Laboratory Safety

Safety in the laboratory is of the utmost importance. Work carried out within a laboratory will often involve the use of chemicals and/or equipment which is potentially harmful to yourself or those working around you, therefore, proper training is required. Most laboratories will have an explicit standard operating procedure (SOP) associated with a particular test, piece of equipment etc. Most companies will have safety training unique to their site which will be mandatory for all employees. The following section will detail some common safety measures; however, all personnel should be familiar with the specific safety requirements of the laboratory in which they work.
